Useful Hints A frequent question asked
by our guests is:
Our beach in Marigot Bay is a public beach located on a small peninsula in the middle of the bay as shown in some of the photos in our website. The beach and the restaurants are only within a 10-minute walk from The Inn. But don't worry if you don't feel like walking: Free transportation to the bay area and back to the Inn is available upon request at no charge. Just one more aspect of the very personalized service you receive when you stay at The Inn On The Bay! More Useful HintsAirport Departure Tax There's a US$26.00 departure tax for all destinations. Car rental
Churches Almost 90% of St. Lucians are Roman Catholic. Other denominations include Anglican, Methodist, Baptist, Seventh Day Adventist, Church of the Nazarene, Church of Christ, Christian Science and the Salvation Army. Times vary at individual churches, so it's best to call before attending. Climate and Clothing St. Lucia's temperature varies from 28 to 32 degrees Celsius (82 to 90 degrees Far.) and the climate is tempered by constant, cooling trade winds. Visitors should bring cool, comfortable clothing and a good pair of walking shoes. While jacket and tie are rarely required, overly casual beachwear is not appreciated off the beach. (Please note that Web based weather and forecasts are not always accurate. St. Lucia weather is great, as our former guests will tell you! - Just take a look at their comments!) Economy The banana was introduced to St. Lucia in the middle of the century, where it quickly replaced sugar cane and coconut as the island's main source or revenue. Although still a major industry today, the banana is finally giving way to tourism, as the island continues to adapt to changing global markets. When you visit St. Lucia, you'll understand why the island's incredible beauty and the charm of its people is truly a natural resource to behold, to share and to treasure.Electricity St. Lucia conforms to the European standard of 220 volts at 50 cycles but transformers for electrical appliances are available at The Inn. All our guest rooms have both 2-pin American flat type connections and UK 3-pin square type connections. Electric shaver transformers are available in all of our bathrooms for US (110V) and European connections (220V).Language English is the official language, but the historical French influence is still present in the local patois still spoken by many St. Lucians among themselves. Money We recommend that you carry US$ or travelers checks. One US$ is worth approximately 2.50 Eastern Caribbean dollars (EC$). You can change your American money at The Inn or in any bank in Marigot Bay, Castries or Rodney Bay.
